I adhere to the BCPC Statement of Ethical Principals and the Code of Practice for BCPC Counselling & Psychotherapy Practitioners.
The most important thing is that we need to be understood. We need someone to be able to listen to us and to understand us.
Then we will suffer less.

What to expect
Counselling can be helpful to us at many points in our lives. This could be at a time of personal crisis, such as a major life change or when we have a more general sense that something isn't right in our lives which we feel a need to explore and understand more about.
I am very committed to working with clients to help them to become more accepting of themselves and also to feel more able to make the positive changes that they may seek.
Central to my way of working is an emphasis on developing a real and empathic relationship with my clients. I draw on a range of approaches and theories but my relationship with clients is always to the fore. It is my belief that if we can build a trusting and authentic relationship then we can work together to explore whatever difficulties are being faced.
Sessions are held regularly, usually weekly, and last for 50 minutes.
I work with clients across a range of experiences including relationship issues, bereavement, loss, abandonment, childhood experiences, anxiety and depression, feelings of anger and powerlessness, being a carer, living with dementia, low self esteem, trust and commitment issues, loneliness, emotional and physical health and wellbeing.
I am committed to the provision of counselling services to those with a disability. I work from a ground floor consulting room. If you are concerned about potential access issues do contact me to discuss your concerns. Where there is a genuine need I am able to offer counselling through home visits.
